  Next Generation Network

The design and architecture of BellTel’s core distribution networks were driven by in-depth knowledge and appreciation of the market needs. It has also taken into consideration the problems and shortcomings of traditional telecommunication infrastructures and service providers.

In addition to building an MPLS ready backbone network supporting multiple services and protocols, BellTel deployed a wide array of leading edge last mile access technologies for widest coverage and quick service deployment. These include fiber-to-the-curb, point-to-multipoint CDMA and TDMA radio systems, LMDS, in-building DSL and satellite.

The very deliberate and well planned selection of its initial target markets and the technologies adopted contributed to the successful validation of BellTel’s business model as evidenced by its capture of diverse and top quality customers.

1. Core Network

Backbone Transmission

Seven strategically located operating centers and base stations were established and linked via high-capacity fiber optic cable and point-to-point STM1 digital microwave radio systems equipped with MPLS ready switches supporting multiple protocols and services including voice, IP, data and video.

Internet

Best-of-breed and carrier-generated VOIP gateways, core and edge routers, LAN switches, hubs, bandwidth manager, call route manager, remote access server (RAS) and various industrial type servers enable delivery of wide range of data and Internet products including voice using IP as transport technology.

Voice Switches & Interconnections

Excel based IGF switch, Lucent 5ESS Class 5 local / toll exchange and the company’s existing direct interconnections with all major IGF, LEC, IXC and cellular operators allow provision of full-service telephony at very competitive rates.

Satellite

BellTel’s own satellite network enables connection of customers in provincial areas to the core network of their headquarters in Metro Manila, thus allowing “one stop shopping” for customers requiring links to remote sites nationwide.

2. Core Access Network

Owing to the demography of its target market, BellTel uses a wide range of last mile facilities to deliver its services in the most cost-efficient and expedient manner.

BellTel initially deployed its first generation CDMA based point-to-multipoint broadband fixed wireless access systems in accordance with projected market demand in Metro Manila, Cavite and Laguna. These systems will eventually be redeployed in the provincial areas and will be replaced with the latest wireless access systems which use WIMAX technology. The planned WIMAX network which will cover both existing and target new markets and will initially offer profitability as value added feature with mobility to be provided at a later time.

In the makati business center, BellTel laid its own underground conduits facilities and fiber-to-the-curb and deliver telephone, leased lines and broadband Internet in selected office buildings and condominiums.
