The Advanced Science and Technology Institute (ASTI) has recently acquired the services of local Telecommunications provider Bell Telecommunication Philippines Inc. (BellTel) to provide broadband leased line connectivity to the National Library, Pagasa, and the House of Representatives. ASTI’s broadband network will distribute Internet connectivity to these agencies to augment their current bandwidth as well as enable inter-agency connectivity and improve access to knowledge bases.

According to Dennis Villorente, ASTI Director; “These broadband links will greatly improve information access for these agencies, such as the National Library’s digital archives and the House of Representatives’ legislative database. “ These broadband links are all part of the Philippine Research, Education & Government Information Network (PREGINET) that is spearheaded by the Advanced Science and Technology Institute (ASTI).
